Plesk: Disabling the DNS Service

This is article provides you with information on how to disable Plesk DNS

By default, domains created in Plesk use the Plesk DNS server for name resolution. However, in some situations this is not desirable.

For example, if you are using a third-party DNS server or servers that are authoritative for your domain, it is recommended to disable the Plesk DNS service for the domain. Below we will cover the steps to disable the Plesk DNS service.

Step 1– Login to Plesk.

  • Login with username and password received when you completed your subscription.

Step 2– Go to Hosting&DNS > DNS Settings

Step 3– Click Disable

  • This setting does not delete the DNS Zone it will just force the DNS lookups to go to an external provider.
  • Once enabled again DNS records will re-populate.
