This Mandela Day, 1-grid is sponsoring web hosting for 67 websites for 67 small businesses for 67 weeks!

According to a study by The Small Enterprise Development Agency, South Africa has one of the highest failure rates of new small to medium-sized businesses in the world, at an estimated 75%. A large number of these new businesses fail because they do not have access to the right resources. This Mandela Day, we have made it our mission at 1-grid to help 67 small businesses with a step in the right direction by hosting their websites for free for 67 weeks. We believe that having an online presence is an essential tool that small businesses need to help them succeed.

Our 67 small businesses have been sourced and selected by Colourworks and Over the Rainbow, whose 67 logos designathon on 18 July will pair each business with a graphic designer to create brilliant, brand-aligned logos. For many small businesses, a secure, reliable website and a professionally designed logo is just a long-term goal. We want to change that – because with these tools comes credibility, greater reach and an icon that customers can align themselves to in the long term.

What does an online presence mean for a new business?

With more and more people looking for products and services online, having an online presence through a website is more important than ever. A website enhances accessibility, garners a larger audience and builds trust. For many new small businesses, having a website online is just a dream. This year, as we celebrate Madiba’s centennial, 1-grid is changing that and making 67 small businesses’ dreams come true!
